First Aid for Mental Health Services
What is First Aid for Mental Health?
Simply put, it is a service that provides mental health support by allowing those trained in mental health training to spot signs of mental distress, listen to individuals who need assistance without making judgments, and signpost them to qualified services and doctors. This approach helps them get past the distress, much like the skills learned in First Aid courses.
Courses offered
1. Level 1 - Awareness for First Aid Mental Health.
This is a 4-hour course that provides an understanding of First Aid for Mental Health. It includes a short exam focusing on how to support someone in need and recognizing possible signs and symptoms. Upon completion, participants will receive a UK Ofqual regulated Level 1 certificate issued by First Aid Awards UK. This certificate is valid for 3 years, provided a refresher course is completed yearly.
2. Level 2 - First Aid for Adult Mental Health.
This 8-hour course offers an in-depth exploration of mental health conditions, equipping individuals with skills to provide effective mental health support. Participants will learn non-judgmental communication techniques and how to signpost to relevant support services in the UK and UAE. Successful completion leads to a UK Ofqual regulated Level 2 certificate issued by First Aid Awards UK, valid for 3 years with annual refresher courses.
3. Level 2 - First Aid for Youth Mental Health.
Similar to the Level 2 Adult Mental Health course, this program focuses on supporting young people and vulnerable adults. It provides essential mental health training tailored to the needs of these groups. Participants will earn a UK Ofqual regulated Level 2 certificate issued by First Aid Awards UK, valid for 3 years with yearly refresher courses.
4. Level 3 - Supervising First Aid for Mental Health.
This 16-hour course dives into the main disorders of mental health, specifically designed for those supervising individuals holding Level 1 or 2 certificates. This advanced level of mental health training prepares participants to provide comprehensive support to those in their care. A UK Ofqual regulated certificate will be awarded by First Aid Awards UK, valid for 3 years with a requirement for an annual refresher course.
5. Refresher Course - First Aid for Mental Health.
This 3-hour course is designed to help participants brush up on their skills and address any questions that may have arisen during their time as a Mental Health First Aider.
The above First Aid courses, levels 1-4, must be completed in their entirety at the end of their 3 years from the date of passing.
Costs:
Costs for our First Aid courses vary dramatically based on your requirements. If you provide the learning area, refreshments, and AV equipment, the cost will be significantly less than if we need to supply those items ourselves.
Level 1 and refresher course - 250 AED to 500 AED
LEVEL 2 - 500 AED to 1000 AED
LEVEL 3 - 1000 AED to 2000 AED
